Paver patio and walkway in a residential backyard

Hardscaping, Patios and Walkways in the Lehigh Valley

Patios and walkways built on a proper base so they stay flat and tight through Pennsylvania winters.

A patio or walkway changes how you use your yard. It gives you a place to sit, eat and have people over, and it connects the parts of the property so you are not walking through wet grass. ESG Landscaping builds hardscapes for Lehigh Valley homes that look great on day one and still look great years later.

Anyone can lay pavers on the ground. What makes a hardscape last is everything underneath: excavation, a compacted stone base, proper pitch for drainage and solid edge restraint. That is where we spend our time, because that is what keeps a patio from heaving and sinking.

Built for freeze and thaw

Lehigh Valley winters put hardscapes through dozens of freeze and thaw cycles. Water gets into the ground, freezes, expands and moves anything that was not built right. It is the main reason you see wavy patios and sunken walkways around the area.

We build for it. That means digging deep enough, using the right base stone, compacting in layers and locking the edges in. Pavers handle our climate better than poured concrete because they flex with the ground instead of cracking, and an individual paver can always be lifted and reset.

We provide hardscaping in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, East Stroudsburg and across the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. See the full service area.

FAQ

Hardscapes questions

Do not see your question? Call or text us and you will get a straight answer.

How much does a paver patio cost?

It depends on size, the paver you choose, site access and how much excavation and grading is involved. We measure the space, talk through options and give you a free written price.

How long does a hardscape project take?

Many walkways and small patios are done within a few days once we start. Larger projects take longer. We give you a realistic timeline with the estimate.

When is the best time to build?

Hardscapes can be built from spring through late fall, as long as the ground is not frozen. Booking early gets you a better spot on the schedule.

Can you match or tie into what I already have?

Often, yes. We can extend existing walks, add borders or connect a new patio to what is already there. We will look at it during the estimate.
