Fresh mulch is the fastest way to make a property look cared for. It also does real work: it holds moisture, keeps roots cooler in summer, suppresses weeds and breaks down to feed the soil. ESG Landscaping installs mulch for homes across the Lehigh Valley, and we handle all of it, from delivery to the final blow off.
The difference between a good mulch job and a bad one is prep. We do not just throw new mulch on top of weeds and old matted layers. We clean the beds, cut a fresh edge and then spread an even layer at the right depth.

When and how to mulch in Pennsylvania
Most Lehigh Valley homeowners mulch in spring, from April into May, once the beds are cleaned up and before summer weeds take hold. A fall top off is also a good option, since it insulates roots going into winter.
Depth matters. Two to three inches is the target. Less than that and weeds push through. More than that, especially piled against trunks, holds moisture against the bark and can slowly kill trees and shrubs. If you have years of built up mulch, we may recommend removing some before adding new.
We provide mulching in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, East Stroudsburg and across the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. See the full service area.
